DUI without being high? Every medical cannabis patient needs to be aware of this risk.
In fact, it is possible to get a DUI if you consumed cannabis a week ago, and depending on where you live in the country, there could be a zero tolerance DUI policy like in Pennsylvania, which has resulted in innocent medical cannabis patients getting arrested.
Tune into The Vine podcast for a resourceful conversation with Patrick Nightingale, Director of thePittsburgh Chapter of NORML, a former prosecutor and practicing criminal defense attorney in state and federal courts at PKN Law, and board member for the Medical Cannabis Society.
After reading Patrick’s blog post, “Pennsylvania’s Medical Cannabis Patients Need DUI Reform NOW – Why “zero tolerance” places a quarter million Pennsylvanians at risk,” I became terrified as a mother and MMJ patient myself as to the unfair laws that exist in my home state of PA. So Elizabeth and I asked Patrick to join us to do a deep dive on what medical cannabis patients can do to protect themselves, as well as what to do to advocate for change.
