PMP had the privilege of featuring Seth Pearman, Attorney General to the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe on episode #61 of The Vine.
Seth, a citizen of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, shares with us that the Tribe first explored cannabis in 2015 and then in the summer of 2021 it opened Native Nations Cannabis, a medical cannabis facility on the Reservation. The facility serves First Nation and non-indigenous patients from the region.
The Tribe’s reservation is within the interior boundaries of South Dakota and is located north of Sioux Falls and just west of the Minnesota border. Like so many tribes in the United States, after being placed on reservations their relations with the United States and the state of South Dakota have often been contentious.
In this episode, PMP discusses cannabis cultivation on tribal lands, how First Nation governments manage cannabis, contention with the States, and ensuring Tribes are not left out of Safe Banking.
