PMP was delighted to have the opportunity to interview Charley Wininger, the author of Listening to Ecstasy: the Transformative Power of MDMA. Charlie has been a psychotherapist in private practice since 1989. He is a licensed Psychoanalyst and Mental Health Counselor, specializing in relationships and communication skills, treating couples and individuals in his Manhattan and Brooklyn offices.
For the past 20 years Charley has been a member of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) which funds research into the use of MDMA (also referred to as ecstasy or molly) for treating PTSD, social anxiety and other ailments.
Charley sits on the Board of Advisors of The Psychedelic Education and Continuing Care Program at the Center for Optimal Living in New York, and regularly speaks there on the topic of “Psychedelics Across The Lifespan." Although he doesn’t use MDMA in his therapy practice, he continues to benefit from personal experience with this medicine as it informs and improves his performance as a psychotherapist.
