The Healing Power of Ginger

As the winter months are upon us, we turn to herbs for healing and protecting us from the cold. Ginger, one of my personal favorites, seems to be at the top of list.
Ginger is the root of a flowering plant that originated in Southeast Asia and is closely related to turmeric, cardamom and galangal. It has been used through the ages as a medicinal and healing agent and can help lower blood sugar, regulate weight, and soothe an upset stomach. Ginger is found in various forms of traditional and alternative medicine. It can help you fight off the flu virus and the common cold!
Ginger can be used in its natural state or it can be found powdered, crystalized, or even as an oil all of which can be mixed with hot water and consumed alone or added to your favorite tea.
An herb that has so many medicinal benefits and also helps stave off the cold, should be added to the the top of the grocery list!
