Psychedelic Week NYC
By: Gina Vensel
Friday, October 6th
As most of our community knows, Horizons PBC has postponed the sixteenth Horizons New York until the spring. You can find a statement on this difficult decision here.
The community quickly responded with a flurry of activity pulling together resources to support the evening events surrounding the conference, and it resulted in a united effort across many companies and organizations.
A grassroots website listing the events can be found at PsychedelicWeekNYC.com, and it's free to anyone to submit an event to the site. I'm keeping my travel plans to New York and will be attending and participating in next week's psychedelic community events.
Including Reason magazine's event on Wednesday, October 11 featuring a documentary film about the psychedelic renaissance (with content filmed at Psychedelic Science 2023) followed by an in-person Q&A with MAPS' Rick Doblin, and Drug Test's Psychedelic Variety Show on Saturday, October 14 at Caveat.
In the true spirit of community, Brooklyn Psychedelic Society, pivoted from hosting an After Party only to turning Synchronicity into a two day un-conference featuring a lineup of some of PMP's favorite psychonauts including Charley Wininger (which I'm excited to co-host a panel with on Saturday, October 14). I look forward to gathering with the psychedelic community in New York next week, and will be announcing information on the spring 2024 dates for Horizons soon. This past week has reminded me of the truth behind the sentiment that community is the medicine.
