Psychedelics are making waves in mainstream media changing the way that we discuss managing the current mental health crisis. The New York Times featured a front page article this week entitled, The Psychedelic Revolution Is Coming. Psychiatry May Never Be the Same.
MAPS Founder and Executive Director Rick Doblin, Ph.D. was highlighted in the article discussing the success of MAPS' first Phase 3 study of MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD.
"After decades of demonization and criminalization," explains Jacobs, "psychedelic drugs are on the cusp of entering mainstream psychiatry, with profound implications for a field that in recent decades has seen few pharmacological advancements for the treatment of mental disorders and addiction."
Our friends at Psychedelic.Support launched a new online educational series called "The Quick Trip." Today's premiere episode featured Dr. Anne Wagner discussing Couples therapy + PTSD, a growing area of research in psychedelic medicine. She shares her insights as a PTSD researcher, a clinician trained in MDMA-assisted psychotherapy, and the principal investigator on several studies exploring the impact of MDMA-assisted therapeutic interventions with couples in which one member has a diagnosis of PTSD.
